The station Hosingen is a broadcasting system of the Broadcasting Center Europe, a subsidiary of the RTL Group for FM. The transmitter system consists of a 300-meter-high steel tube mast with a diameter of 2 meters. This is the tallest building in Luxembourg.
History[edit | edit source code]
From 1962 to 1970, the transmission system was located in Marnach. On the 17th In January 1969, the transmission tower there fell over. Therefore, a new FM station was put into operation in Hosingen in 1970.
Before the switch to DVB-T, an analog television station was also in operation in Hosingen, which broadcast the Dutch program RTL 5.
Structure[edit | edit source code]
The main transmitters are two FM transmitters of the type Telefunken S 3217 with 10 kilowatts of output power each. Two Telefunken S 3152 with 10 kilowatts of output power are also installed as a spare transmitter.
The transmitting antennas for VHF are each located at a height of 237 meters (92.5 MHz) and at a height of 285 meters (97.0 MHz) at the transmission tower.

Analog radio (FM)[edit | edit source code]
In the antenna diagram, in the case of directed radiation, the main beam directions are given in degrees. The station on 97 MHz is used to broadcast the German program of RTL, which was particularly popular in the 1970s. A considerable effort was made to be able to receive the station up to the Cologne area. In addition to Luxembourg, the range under normal conditions covers the Eifel and the Hunsrück.
